A cabochon usually refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and polished instead of being cut and faceted.  Cabochons are usually domed on the front and flat on the back.  Slightly domed cabochons of any material lend themselves well to beading around.  In these instructions, you will learn how to bead around cabochons which will be made into earrings.

Instructions include:

                             BASIC MATERIALS LIST

HOW TO DO THE BACKSTITCH KNOT

HOW TO DO THE RETURN STITCH

                             "ZIPPER" EDGING

                             BEADED LOOP FOR EARRING WIRE

                             INCLUDES DIAGRAMS

TIPS HOW TO MAKE YOUR BEADWORK BETTER

Once you learn this simple beading technique, you can then use this skill to bead around any type of cabochon.  Beaded cabochons can then be made into barrettes, earrings, necklaces and other jewelry, or glued or sewn on to clothing or pocketbooks.  The possibilities are endless!
